Big Weekend for Creative Deer Park Couple

Mack and Teri Dryden didn't plan for both of them to have major shows in Louisville on the same weekend--it just happened that way. "Several months ago, Gilda's Club asked me to headline their 'Night of a Thousand Laughs' on May 16," said professional comedian Mack Dryden. "Then Teri told me when her show was opening, and I had to chuckle. It's a big weekend for the Drydens. I guess we'll be dressing up more than usual." Mack's wife of 19 years is well-known mixed-media artist Teri Dryden, whose show "Confetti Circus" opens at Swanson Contemporary in NuLu on May 15. The couple moved from Los Angeles to their Boulevard Napoleon home four years ago, and say they're overwhelmed by how the community has not only accepted them and their work but welcomed them warmly with open arms. "I have to admit I was a tad anxious about how my work would fit in here in Louisville," said Teri, "but the artist community could not have possibly been more loving and supportive. They really made me feel like part of the group in no time." Teri has shown her work in numerous venues and won several awards since relocating to The River City, and is now represented by galleries in Lexington and Jackson, Mississippi, as well. After appearing in movies and dozens of TV shows in LA, Mack is now a motivational speaker and comedian who performs at conventions all over the U.S., and recently performed in Canada and China as well. "I'm his biggest fan, and he's mine," said Teri, who works in her home studio. "I hit the jackpot when I found my soul mate," said Mack. "She'd never made a single painting when we got married. To watch her blossom into a fantastic artist has been fascinating and inspiring."
