GOP debate looked like a bad WWE Pay per view promo
Ed Springston
The first chance many had to see the GOP candidates was last night during the FOX news first debate of the season. One thing became clearly obvious immediately. FOX news had a clear agenda. Try to get rid of Trump and prop up establishment status quo Jeb Bush. There can be no other conclusion in my mind.
FOX news should have lost any credibility they had left after that farce.
Instead of getting a real debate on issues between the candidates, the so called moderators decided to turn it into a weak version of the National Enquirer at the expense of many others.
Ben Carson was treated as a stepchild. At one point when they finally came to him to ask a question, after 18 minutes had passed, he actually thanked Megyn Kelly and claimed he wasn't sure they would let him speak again.
Yep it was that bad and totally unfair to the majority of candidates on the stage. You can read my take here.
FOX did their best to turn this into cheap entertainment that rivaled Keeping Up with the Kardashians, or any other so called reality show out there. The attacks were unprofessional, and the so called journalists in Megyn Kelly, Brett Baier, and Chris Wallace, need to go back to school and take an ethics class or two. They most certainly did not act like journalists last night.
Or maybe they did. Is this what we have come to expect?
Any credibility FOX had, or had left depending on what point of view you had of them, clearly is gone now. Or should be.
We the people deserve a professional debate with real questions and answers. The candidates themselves deserve a helluva lot better than what they recieved by these buffoonish moderators. the sad thing is their plan worked in one sense anyway.
Today everyone is talking about FOX driving people to their website, or otherwise engaging with them through social media. This of course raises their numbers and leads to ad revenue.
Negative attention is better than no attention is the old saying and FOX apparently doesn't mind going down the trash tabloid road.
We the people however most certainly deserve better. This is an election about our future not about cheap thrills by FOX news. If they can't do better than that then perhaps they should stay out of the debate process.
I can join the WWE network if I want to see those types of antics.
