The hard working public servants at Metro Parks have requested to get the word out on several ways to treat your family and friends with gifts this year. The 2016 Metro Parks Golf Discount Book is now on sale at all Metro Parks and Recreation public golf courses, and makes a perfect holiday gift for the golfer in the family, regardless of experience level.

The $25 gift provides hundreds of dollars in savings throughout the year and is on sale at all nine public golf courses and the Metro Parks Administration Building at Joe Creason Park.

The Golf Discount Book is one of many holiday gift options provided through Metro Parks and Recreation.

For lovers of the great outdoors, the Welcome Center at Jefferson Memorial Forest carries a variety of nature-themed items, including books, shirts and toys, as well as locally crafted walking sticks and novelties. Gift certificates are available and can be used for gift shop items, camping fees, public program fees, and children’s summer camp fees.  Visit during the Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 12, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for 25 percent off your purchase.

Give the gift of art and music with a gift certificate from the Metro Arts Center. Certificates can be purchased in any amount and used for a wide variety of lessons for adults and children, including painting and pottery, as well as learning to play a musical instrument.

Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, offers such items as locally produced honey, books on local history, historical reproductions of children’s items — small toys, games, bonnets and hats. Also available are hand-rolled beeswax candles in seasonal colors, and potpourri and sachets made with dried herbs and flowers from the Riverside gardens.

The gift shop at Historic Locust Grove carries a wide variety of locally made products, such as tea, bourbon-based food items, wood-ware, jewelry and pottery. The shop also carries historic reproduction pieces drawn from life in the late 18thand early 19th centuries, including pewter and other household goods.   The Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center, located in Crescent Hill Park, offers gift certificates that can be used for aqua exercise classes, monthly passes and more.
