Louisville Metro Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21) took time during Thursday’s Metro Council meeting to honor the Male High School Bulldogs who are Kentucky State 6-A Champions for 2015 in football.

“It is an honor and a privilege to put the spotlight on these fine young men and their coaches for the accomplishments they bring from the field of competition and to our city. They continue our city’s great traditions in sports,” said Johnson. “We should always take the time to honor special achievement in athletics and scholastics as a city.”

The Councilman honored Male Head Coach Chris Wolfe and 32 seniors on the team with a proclamation for their 41 to 14 victory over Lafayette. The team was named the Kentucky High School 6-A Champions in Bowling Green, Kentucky on December 5th.

The Championship capped an undefeated season for the 32 seniors. Male High School now has eight state Championship titles in Kentucky High School Sports.

“As a result of this spectacular accomplishment, it is important for anyone who drives or travels through District 21 to know that Male High School is an important institution in our community,” says Johnson. “We have a special reminder to travelers that they are in the presence of Champions.”

Councilman Johnson has funded two signs to be installed in the district near Male High School. The two 48” x 24” signs will feature the Male Bulldog Mascot and will read, “Male High School 2015 Undefeated Champions Kentucky State 6-A Football.” The signs are in the school’s colors on a white background and will be installed in the month of March.

Male High School has had an impressive football record since 1952:

State Champion: 1952, 1960, 1963, 1964, 1993, 1998, 2000, 2015
