Jim Porter's to close

Louisville mainstay popular Jim Porter's Good time Emporium is set to close. WAVE3 is reporting that Jim Porter's has been bought by MSD. Read below for info. The Metropolitan Sewer District has reached an agreement to purchase Jim Porter's Good Time Emporium and close the business to construct a storage basin. A press release says MSD plans to locate an underground-covered storage basin behind the Jim Porter's site that will offer protection for Beargrass Creek and the surrounding area from sewer overflows. The Jim Porter's property, which will be purchased for $5 million, will be used as a staging area during the project's construction phase. MSD plans to sell most or all of the property following construction. The storage basin will hold 8.5 million gallons. Construction will begin in 2017 with completion expected in 2020.
