Rand Paul’s New Book

With the presidential primaries starting to heat up, the major candidates are all heading to their word processors to grind out tomes for planned book tours, in hopes of launching their 2016 campaigns. So it comes as no complete surprise that Kentucky’s junior senator, Rand Paul, is releasing his third book today, Taking a Stand: Moving Beyond Partisan Politics to Unite America. His previous efforts, Government Bullies: How Everyday Americans Are Being Harassed, Abused, and Imprisoned by the Feds, and The Tea Party Goes to Washington, are still available, for those who go in for that sort of thing.

In Taking A Stand, Senator Paul talks candidly about his life as a family man, an eye surgeon, and a self- professed “tree hugger” who “embodies the small-town values that form the beating heart of this great country.” Senator Paul calls for changes in the Republican Party, and American politics in general, “in order for us to make America ours again.”

He argues that our immigration system is broken, government entitlements are in the red, healthcare is a mess, and that we've overextended our resources in both our foreign policy and domestic policies and America is less safe for it. Real reform, according to Senator Paul, will mean less of the politics-as-usual Americans have grown tired of, and more of imaginative, fresh solutions rooted in personal responsibility, individual liberty, and the “original values that made this country great.”
