The Second Street Neighborhood Association presents the 22nd Annual Old Louisville Hidden Treasures Garden Tour this Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Each year, the second weekend of June offers Louisvillians glimpses into one of its best-kept secrets. The Old Louisville Hidden Treasures Garden Tour welcomes garden lovers into the private green spaces of the nation’s largest Victorian residential neighborhood. Old Louisville gardeners share the experience of their personal retreats tucked behind imposing Victorian homes and carriage houses and protected by vine-covered walls and privacy fences. The tour begins in front of the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, 1402 St. James Court at Magnolia Avenue. This tour is designed to be walked so that the visitor can experience the scale of Old Louisville residences and the peacefulness of its gardens. Because the neighborhood is large, each year the tour rotates to a different section of the neighborhood.
“This event is one of Old Louisville’s premier events. It showcases Old Louisville in a unique and special way and highlights that which is beautiful about the Old Louisville Neighborhood,” says Howard Rosenberg, President of the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council. “We cannot adequately express the deep appreciation to the people who work tirelessly to present this event because of their love for Old Louisville.”
Complimentary refreshments, a silent auction, and vendors with garden-themed products will be in Haskins Hall, and on the front lawn, at the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, on both days of the tour. 2015 Garden Tour tickets are $20 on the days of the tour, or $15 in advance. Seniors over 65, tickets are $15 in advance or day of tour. All garden tourists are eligible for a drawing for $50 cash or four free tickets to the 2016 garden tour.
