Johnson Encourages Gun Safety

Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21) is partnering with the Louisville Metro Police’s Fourth Division in an effort to teach children about gun safety at the Beechmont Community Center on Wednesday, May 18th’
“It is our responsibility as adults to make sure children of all ages are aware of the dangers of a gun lying around a home,” says Johnson. “As adults, we must make sure all firearms are secure and keep our children safe.”
The Youth Gun Safety event will feature the Eddie the Eagle GunSafe Program which is a gun accident prevention program for children pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. It is designed to show children what to do if they ever come upon a gun and there is no adult around.
Parents who attend will get the chance to receive a free raffle ticket to win a GunVault MV 500 gun safe provided by Councilman Johnson’s Office
It will get underway from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Beechmont Community Center, 205 West Wellington Avenue.
“I encourage parents and adults to bring your children to this event and help us make our children understand what to all is involved in gun safety,” says Johnson.
